Ellwindris gripped her staff tightly, she was nervous. This was her first time going on patrol with other members of the order, her first time doing anything with them. How long has it been? 30? 40 years, since I was last with my kind? I've spent so many years alone in the forest, what if they do not like me? She took a deep breath and squeezed her staff once more before finally loosening her grip. As she walked through Astraanar, she could hear the shuffling of feet. Two of them, one male and one female... She thought as she neared closer to them and as she passed them and entered into the main building, they said nothing to her. Ellwindris breathed a sigh of relief, her heart was still thumping loudly in her chest. She was a bit unfamiliar with the building, so she began whacking her staff on the ground a few times before proceeding. Her staff finally hit something and she could tell it was a bench and a rather tall one at that. She pulled herself up on top if it and set her staff next to her in arm's reach. Everything's going well, now I jus- Her thoughts were interrupted when a unfamiliar voice greeted her. It came across from her on another similar bench.
"Oh-uh-hello!" Ellwindris stuttered as she tried to find the words, her heart began thumping again. Can he hear my heart thumping? Quick! Say something! Don't just sit there looking weird! Ellwindris snapped out of her train of thought and looked towards the voice. "My name is Ellwindris Stormleaf, may I ask you for yours?" Ellwindris felt embarrassed as she blurted out that question, her cheeks were visibly red. The voice across from her chuckled gently.
"Yes, my name is Kayael." Sounds friendly enough, perhaps I have been worrying myself over nothing... Ellwindris' heart slowed in thumping and she was sure of it that he wouldn't be able to hear it anymore.
"It's nice to meet you." The other voice had said nothing, so Ellwindris assumed he may have nodded at her and so she returned with a smile and returned to sitting quietly. Some time had passed and not many more words were exchanged between the two and after a while, more people started to show up. The sounds of footsteps all around her dizzied Ellwindris, it was a good thing she was already sitting. One particular set of footsteps started walking towards her, she could tell it was female. Quick to be sure to not embarrass herself again, Ellwindris calmly greeted the woman and introduced herself. The woman greeted her back who moved across the room and by the sound of it, sat on a small bench. Turns out her name was Lyina, everything seemed to be going off to a good start. I already know two people, how exciting!
It had been awhile since Ellwindris felt this excited, her fear and nervousness was soon replaced with excitement and a sense of adventure. This is what it feels like! This is what it feels like to be with my own kind! It was a warm feeling she had inside her, a feeling of belonging. More and more people began to pool inside the small building, it was almost overwhelming. So many sounds of footsteps and different conversations poured into Ellwindris' ears, she almost missed the commotion at the entrance of the building. Ellwindris strained to hear what was going on and noticed everyone was getting up and moving to the entrance, it was clear that their leader Fafen had arrived.
Ellwindris recalled the meeting she had with her and the Highbourne Mythantos, it was nerve racking but she had made the cut and was now part of the order. Not to look weird sitting by herself, Ellwindris quickly grabbed her staff and moved to the back of the group. Greetings from everyone was sent out to Fafen who almost seemed embarrassed by the attention given to her as she made her way through the group who quickly followed. Ellwindris soon found herself standing next to everyone in a line, Fafen soon sent out an order to get into rank and after some shuffling Ellwindris heard to her side, she assumed everyone had lined up more neatly. Ellwindris could tell she was standing next to someone and hoped she too was in line with everyone else, no one said anything to her so she assumed she was.
After a lengthy meeting, it was time to move out. Ellwindris learned that instead of patrols, they would be entering Feralas and going to Feathermoon. Some of the members seemed a bit reluctant but no one really put up a fuss, Ellwindris made her way with a few others over to the south end bridge where she and the others awaited Fafen to lead them. It was some time before Fafen finally arrived but the group was quick to take off when she did. The trek was long but Ellwindris had no trouble keeping up, she may be blind but with that many thundering pawsteps from all the saber tigers that the group rode, it was easy to track them.
Everyone was quick to claim a spot in the stronghold, Ellwindris wandered aimlessly. She had never been here before and personally didn't know where the beds were her, thankfully Mythantos was kind enough to point out some spots to her and that she should hurry as many of the good spots were taken fast. She eventually found a large tower near where they entered the stronghold, it had one bed and was quite secluded. She never slept in a place that was that exquisite and she didn't even have a clue if it was already taken but no one told her otherwise. She quickly unpacked her stuff, thankful to finally get rid of the burden of carrying her heavy satchel of herbs.
With everything put away, she sat there for a moment. Now what? We weren't really given any other orders other then to get comfortable. I suppose I can expect some training soon, though I am unsure how training will go for me. What will they train me in? Will I be able to be of any help? Ellwindris sighed and tried to shake those thoughts away, she got up and went outside. She might as well meet the others while she can. She looked up at the large tree in the center of the stronghold, she had overheard others saying that someone took the room up there so she decided to start there. She quickly transformed into her bird form, she wanted to quickly get up there without injury. The winds were in her favor and she was able to glide up there with ease and without incident.
From there, she made the last few steps in her elven form. She peered into the room and of course, only saw darkness. She felt uneasy, if there was someone there then they said nothing for the longest time. She called out and thankfully, there was an answer and was greeted in. Turns out the man who claimed the room was known as Lake'n Holifax and his two rogue companions were Zelthen the Dread Wolf and Luna, the White Wolf. After some chatting, Ellwindris said her goodbyes and went to the next room down. There, she was greeted by another druid whose name was Iota and she never got the name of her friend. Ellwindris said her goodbyes to them as well and went back down there tree, there she landed in front of the moonwell.
Ellwindris had a smile on her face, she met everyone she wanted to meet and was content.
"Are you Ellwindris?" A familiar voice came from behind her. Ellwindris turned her head and nodded. It was Declann, another highbourne like Mythantos. "Do you know why we have come here?" He asked, his voice was calm. Ellwindris nodded once more, "She said we had come here to train." Declann was silent for a few moments, Ellwindris could picture him frowning as if she could see. "Did she say how we will be doing that?" Ellwindris could feel him look into her eyes and she merely shook her head. She could hear him sigh then walk over to her side, looking down at the moonwell as well. He sighed once more before continuing on, "I didn't want to come here, not yet..."
Ellwindris looked at him. "Why is that, brother?" She could tell this was a touchy subject and was waiting to hear he didn't want to talk about it but that wasn't the response she got. "I promised a friend I wouldn't come here until I made everything right." Curiosity sparked in Ellwindris but she was sure to not be too pushy. "What is it that you promised to make right? It's alright if you do not wish to tell me." and sure enough, that was the one thing he didn't want to tell her and she understood completely. He chuckled lightly "Sorry to bother you with my deep problems." Ellwindris returned the laugh but assured him that he wasn't, she let out a yawn and could almost hear him fight back a yawn as well. He nodded "It is about that time, isn't it? Well, I will not keep you awake any longer.", she could almost feel like he was smiling at her and she returned the smile before heading off to her room.
Today had been most eventful for her, she met many new faces and maybe even made a few friends. She awaited her training eagerly and as she lay sleeping in her bed, in the back of her mind she would keep recalling the conversation she had with Declann. It was definitely something she wanted to follow up on and find out what it is exactly that makes Declann uncomfortable here.
